Nissan will debut its diesel-powered Titan pickup at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January. The company confirmed the debut to Equipment World sister site Hard Working Trucks.
Last summer Nissan announced its plans to drop a Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine in its next generation Titan. The engine is expected to make between 310-325hp and more than 570 lbs.-ft. torque, with 30- to 40-percent better mpg than the current 5.7L Titan gas engine.
According to Cummins, engine highlights include aluminum heads; CGI block, 90-deg V; forged steel crank; dual overhead cams; chain driven cams and pump; centered injectors; highest speed range in Cummins portfolio; VGT turbo scaled down for the V8; Bosch High pressure common rail (29,000psi).

2015 looks to be an interesting year in light duty pickups. We will see how the new 3.0L EcoDiesel fairs in light truck use, and both Toyota and Nissan should be rolling out their examples. We can only hope the pressure puts GM and Ford to work getting their light diesels ready

We’re hearing the diesel Titan will launch right out of the gate, starting production in mid-September of 2015.
