Although Yusen did not elaborate further than saying it belongs to a “leading American manufacturer”, it is likely the General Motors (60%) and Isuzu Diesel Services of America (40%) owned DMAX facility in Moraine, which produces theDuramax 6.6L V-8 diesel engine for GM’s Silverado and Sierra heavy pickup trucks.

Den lilla Duramaxens uttåg ur orderboken för Sintercast 2008 innebar att man tvingades minska orderboken med 500.000 ekvivalenter. det är ett mått av GMs förväntningar på den för tillfället malpåseladga motorn. OM den kommer igen så är det logiskt att räkna med en sådan produktionsvolym
Den stora Duramaxen tillverkas i ca 200.000 motorer per år. Blocken väger ca 150 kg. Totalt alltså ca 600.000 ekvivalenter. Detta mina vänner kan innebära att vi får ett TILLSKOTT på över en milj ekv under det närmaste året endast genom GM. Sedan tillkommer Fords nya 3 liters V-6 diesel och Jeep Wranglers nya diesel från VM Motori.
GM har sagt att runt sommaren 2018 så kommer Defiancegjuteriet att stänga sin gråjärnsproduktion.

More than 800 jobs will remain in Defiance after the cuts, which are being prompted by the Detroit automaker’s plans to stop making nodular iron and doing iron casting at the plant.
Jag räknar med en stor föreställning vid NAIAS i jan-18 ( om 4 mån ) när de drar täcket av sin nya truckdiesel till den lilla 1/2-tonklassen Silverado 1500 och Sierra 1500. Den kommer under nästa år antagligen till våren. Jag hoppas som sagt att de återupplivar deras fina Duramax 4500 och ger både Ford och Chevrolet en match. Alla i CGI. Det kan bli chockartat med GMs intåg på CGI-marknaden nästa år.

More likely, however, is the return of the 4.5L “LMK” Duramax turbodiesel V-8, which was due for the 2010 model year before being scrapped. Back then, rumors insisted the engine would produce 310 hp and 520 lb-ft, numbers that would absolutely shame both the Ford 3.0L Power Stroke and the Ram 3.0L EcoDiesel. In fact, the LMK would come close to matching the larger, heavier Nissan Titan XD’s 5.0L Cummins V-8, making us wonder if General Motors might be considering reviving the “1500HD” designation for certain configurations of the 2019 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra.

A 4.5-liter diesel V8 was under development prior to the 2009 financial crisis and was ”shelved.” Depending on how complete that program was, it may be the most logical choice in terms of development costs.
